GOODBYE JULY

Jeez, we are now down on the last day of July. Time is flying so fast...faster than a G6. Haha.
Anyhoo,  since I am now on my last college year, I have fewer units and that means less subjects.
I have tons of free time and well, I'd just like to share some things that helped me kill time and fight boredom...

MOVIE:
Wicker Park

I like this movie because its plot is unusual. It reminded me of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". This movie made me realize that movie plots actually happen in real life, ONLY we don't have live cameras rolling in real life so we never know. Don't you think? Okay, weird thoughts. Haha.

I was so smitten with the classic kissing scene at the airport with Coldplay's "The Scientist" playing at the background. Awesome.

TV SERIES:
Game of Thrones

I know this series is very well-loved and it was only this month that I finally had the chance to see it. After three consecutive sleepless days and deep eye bags to deal with, I finished Season 1 til Season 3! I was so attached to the series that I even dreamed of The Hound hounding me. Haha. Too bad they killed Robb Stark and Talisa. They were my favorite couple in the series and they had a nice love story. Oh well, Game of Thrones is not for the hopeless romantics.

Anyhoo, let's see what happens in Season 4! I wonder who'll be the next dead Stark...(Gasp!)

BOOKS:
"One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

I've always  been intrigued about the works of Garbriel Garcia Marquez and that's no wonder since he's a Nobel Prize Winner. With luck, I stumbled upon this book at the school library so I took the chance to read this classic. The whole plot reminded me of Jose Rizal's "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" --- the books we were all required to read back in highschool.

I find this book a nice read. I mean it's a classic right? It's very deep and perhaps it could pass for an adult read. But it made me ponder on some real things and thoughts about life.

"Norwegian Wood" by Haruki Murakami

My friend Toni lent me this book and I loooove it!
I wanted to quote EVERY LINE of the characters. This is the kind of book that you just want to read all over again right after you just finished it. It is so "relatable" because the characters are just about my age and college students as well. So some of their thoughts were my thoughts too. It's both a heavy and light read. There were serious things tackled too like suicide and all. How I love the character of MIDORI! :)

I spent the whole of last weekend just reading and re-reading this book. Perfect for the bed-weather!
Time wasted for reading is a time well wasted indeed.

How about you? What are you up to?

OLD WORLD, OLD FRIENDS

Hola!  I'm in  Davao at the moment to settle some things, see friends and family and well, have a mini-vacation before my last year of college starts (OMG, SENIOR YEAR!!!). Anyhoo...
This is not Bahay ni Lola, it's actually something better than that. Haha.
This is Legaspi Suites a boutique hotel located right in the smack of Davao City. Whenever I pass by this quaint establishment before, I can't help but gaze and wonder. It has this Old World charm that makes me want to go inside and explore. Luckily yesterday, I finally had the chance to get inside! It was real nice and cute. I felt like I was transported to Europe in an instant. (Eat, Pray, Love is my current summer read and I told myself  "I'll imagine that I'm in Italy!" Haha.)

Wesly and Jess, my highschool bestfriends, were just the perfect company to explore the place!
We catched-up with each other at Tata Benito's, a cute cafe just inside the establishment compound.
How I love my girls! It's always refreshing and revivifying spending time with them. :)

Here are the photos we snapped!
Girl, di yan temple, bahay yan friend.
Oh diba? Parang may-ari lang ng bahay??

It felt so good spending the whole day with my gal pals (too bad our other friend, Cess, weren't with us.) We walked around the streets of downtown Davao feeling like we are in New York City. I just love that me and my girls share the same whims and crazy imagination. It was so fun that we all talked non-stop! There were a lot of stories to tell and hear, catching up with each other's lives. We talked about just everything, from fashion, gossip, people, ideas, NYC dreams and even politics (like, "OMG, Ang hot ni Sen. Sonny Angara" - Lol).   I love how we could be both nonsensical and philosophical, deep and shallow.

We stayed at Wesly's place and watched 500 Days of Summer until we dozed off.

Fun day :)

FIRST OF SUMMER

Thanks to my awesome friend, Nise Romero, who just knows exactly when to capture that perfect obligatory jump shots by the beach. Hihi.

Speaking of summer, it's so hot here in General Santos City(mas hot pa kay Angel Locsin)
Bumili ako ng ice cream sa kanto tapos pag-uwi ko, tunaw na. And I'm not even exaggerating that story. That's how hot here. Just saying.

Meanwhile in real life, I am busy with my internship. It gives me a taste of how life will be post-college.
Still trying to adjust though.

How about you?
How's summer so far?

THE LITTLE THINGS

Blur lang para maganda haha.
How's it going everybody?  I am not to go into details about the outfit since the whole look is very basic. Just love how thong sandals and a flouncy top could make jeans look girly. Don't you think?

Oh well sabel, since it's my blog I am about to brag endlessly on what's happening in my life. Haha.

First, I landed a spot for internship on the Accounting firm I've been applying for. It felt good to be "HIRED!".

Next, I'm one of the highest in our Law 2 exams. I'm blogging this since I want to convince you that you really become what show you watch. I was really inspired with  SUITS that's why. Ha.

Third, I placed second on the Essay Writing Contest I joined in school. It was about Women Equality and Empowerment since March is Women's Month. The cool catch is, I won myself 300 bucks! Not bad. I really felt like I was a millionaire after I received it. :)

And lastly, we had another internship seminar at a local hotel last Saturday and well, my outfit got complimented by the speaker. It was the same outfit I wore HERE only I paired the skirt with a hot pink top and black blazer. I could pass like a banker daw. Hihi.

I know I sound like bragging bitch in this post. But you know, you have to celebrate the little things in life.

 How about you?
What are the little things you are celebrating for today?

AMOUR

I spent Valentines at home as usual with Mom and sister.
Every February, they are my Valentine(s). Lol.

Anyway, I watched Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist that morning.
Then, Mom and I watched the French film Amour that evening.
At first it was sweet and all. Grandpa and Grandma growing old together. But the way the movie turned out and ended, it left me disturbed, really disturbed. Is that what you call LOVE? I don't know. This movie kind of marred my lazy Valentines Day.

Anyway, for more rants:
  • I've always known who Paul McCartney is. I know he is definitely not Jesse McCartney's dad or worse, grandfather. I know that Stella McCartney - the fashion designer - is her daughter and he's a legend because he's a member of the band, The Beatles.
Anyway, the point is: Finally! I discovered the awesomeness of The Beatles. I listened to their songs and well, I love the lyrics. Now I know why they are so popular.
  • I placed second for the Filipino Editorial Writing Contest I joined. Yey for that! I'm sorry I just don't have a place for bragging that's why I am blogging about this.Haha.
So anyway, how was your Valentines?

LES MISERABLES

I've never seen an actual musical / broadway theatre show. But I've always enjoyed musical films like Moulin Rouge, Mamma Mia and er, High School Musical? Haha.

But anyway, the "Les Miserables" movie adaptation is one of the movies I've been looking forward to see this year. I read the book last year when I found out that there will be a movie adaptation with a superb cast. So, I watched it first with my friends Toni and Staven one Thursday evening when our Law 2 classes were cancelled. We tried to catch the last full-show. We made it but sadly we weren't able to finish it. And we were actually laughing the whole time. Haha. I watched it the second time with my Mom and sister. Good thing my Mom read the book as well because we were comparing notes and all.

Well, I don't know, I love Russell Crowe's singing. You know, JAVERT (You have to say his name with fear). Haha. And yes, I've enjoyed both Fantine and Eponine's solo acts. But I like the latter the most. The movie was lengthy just like the book. But personally, while I was reading the book, I enjoyed Cosette and Marius' love story. It was all so romantic in the book. Too bad it seems a little too condensed in the movie.

Have you watched it? Thoughts?
